Florida Blue isn’t one Medicare decision. It offers several different ways to structure coverage, including Medicare Advantage, standalone Part D and Medicare Supplement.
Choose the coverage system first—then compare the exact Florida Blue plan using your doctors, prescriptions, travel needs, expected healthcare and financial risk.
HMO • PPO • D-SNP • Patriot PPO
Premier Rx • Complete Rx • Statewide
Plan G • Plan N • Other standardized options
Doctors • Drugs • Travel • Costs • Hospitals
Florida Blue’s Medicare portfolio spans Medicare Advantage, standalone prescription drug coverage and Medicare Supplement.

Florida Blue is the trade name of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida, Inc. and is part of GuideWell.
BlueMedicare Complete HMO D-SNP is available in qualifying Florida service areas.
BlueMedicare Patriot PPO is designed to complement eligible VA, CHAMPVA or TRICARE coverage.
Florida Blue isn’t one Medicare decision. It’s three different Medicare paths.
Start with the coverage system, not the plan name.
PATH 1
Florida Blue administers your Part A and Part B benefits through an HMO or PPO structure, often with Part D and supplemental benefits.
PATH 2
Premier Rx or Complete Rx provides prescription coverage while your medical coverage remains elsewhere.
PATH 3
Florida Blue Medigap works alongside Original Medicare and helps cover standardized gaps in Part A and Part B cost sharing.
Choose the coverage structure first.
Then compare the exact Florida Blue option available in your county.
The plan type determines how you access care. The exact Evidence of Coverage controls the details.
Confirm with both Florida Blue and the provider.
Most applicable Florida Blue MA plans include Part D, but every medication still needs to be checked.
Florida Blue says its 2026 Medicare Advantage options reach all 67 Florida counties, but the local network and exact plan still matter.
Current HMO families include Classic, Preferred, Premier and Complete HMO D-SNP. HMOs are more centered around participating local providers and coordinated care.
Current PPO options include Select, Value and Patriot. PPO coverage generally offers more provider and out-of-state flexibility, but out-of-network costs still matter.
Designed for qualifying people with Medicare + Medicaid. Benefit amounts and cost sharing depend on the exact plan and Medicaid status.
Designed to complement eligible VA, CHAMPVA or TRICARE coverage. It can include PPO flexibility, a Part B Giveback and supplemental benefits.
Use the benefit as a starting point, then verify the network, allowance, cost sharing and eligibility on the exact plan.
Applicable plans can provide allowances for OTC items and certain eligible dental, hearing and other expenses. Allowances vary by plan.
Eligible members can earn reward dollars through approved preventive and healthy activities.
Verify dentist participation, preventive and comprehensive services, crowns, root canals, dentures, implants and annual maximum.
Applicable plans can include routine exams, eyewear, contacts and plan-specific allowances.
Check the exam, provider, approved devices, allowance, member cost and replacement frequency.
Florida Blue currently includes SilverSneakers across its HMO and PPO comparison, but fitness should not outweigh medical access.
Eligible members can receive care-management support for chronic or complex healthcare needs.
Physical Florida locations can provide in-person member assistance and wellness resources.
Certain plans, including Patriot PPO, can reduce part of the Part B premium. Compare the Giveback against total medical costs.
Blue Dollars plan allowances and HealthyBlue Rewards may be stored on the same card, but they are not the same benefit.
These are statewide standalone drug plans and should be compared using your actual prescriptions—not just the PDP name.
Statewide standalone Part D coverage with a six-tier formulary for 2026.
Also statewide with a six-tier formulary, but the deductible structure differs from Premier Rx.
| Compare | Premier Rx | Complete Rx |
|---|---|---|
| Service area | Florida statewide | Florida statewide |
| 2026 formulary | 6 tiers | 6 tiers |
| 2026 deductible | $615 for Tiers 1–5 | $615 for Tiers 3–5 |
| 2026 Part D OOP cap | $2,100 | $2,100 |
| Nationwide pharmacy network | Yes | Yes |
| Home delivery | Yes | Yes |
Compare premium + deductible + formulary + projected annual cost of your actual medications.
Florida Blue Medigap works alongside Original Medicare, so this is a completely different coverage system from BlueMedicare HMO or PPO.
Standardized Plan G generally covers major Original Medicare gaps except the Part B deductible.
Standardized Plan N can include certain office and emergency-room copays and does not cover Part B excess charges.
Your rating age stays fixed at age 65 under the feature, but your actual premium is not necessarily frozen forever.
Age itself may not cause the premium to rise, but medical inflation and other permitted rate changes can still affect premiums.
Reverse the usual benefit-advertising order and start with the costs that can hurt most.
1. MOOP
What is your serious-illness ceiling?
2. Hospital
What could one admission cost?
3. Specialists
Especially chronic-care specialists.
4. Outpatient Surgery
Potentially substantial cost sharing.
5. Imaging
MRI • CT • PET.
6. Prescriptions
Drug + pharmacy + annual cost.
7. Plan Premium
Including $0-premium options.
8. Giveback
Useful, but not the whole story.
9. Supplemental Benefits
Dental • OTC • rewards • fitness.
| Your Priority | What to Verify |
|---|---|
| Keep my doctor | Exact BlueMedicare plan participation |
| Keep my hospital | Exact county + plan contract |
| More travel flexibility | PPO or Medigap structure |
| Lower serious-illness risk | Hospital + specialist + MOOP |
| Prescription coverage | Formulary + pharmacy + annual drug cost |
| Blue Dollars | Allowance + eligible uses + expiration |
| Medicare + Medicaid | D-SNP eligibility |
| Veteran benefits | Patriot PPO + VA/TRICARE interaction |
| Medigap | Same plan letter across carriers |
This form mirrors the real decision: coverage structure first, then exact local plan.
Keep the journey mostly inside MPA, then use only a small number of official Florida Blue links when plan-specific verification is necessary.
